Community development

A just energy transition is one of the pillars of ISA’s 2040 strategy, reflecting our commitment to a more inclusive, sustainable, and resilient future. To turn this commitment into concrete action, we maintain the Conexão Desenvolvimento Program, ISA’s social management model and that of its companies in Brazil.

USP Diversa

In partnership with the University of São Paulo (USP), we have contributed since 2024 to the funding of USP Diversa, a program that provides financial assistance to students from public schools who are in situations of socioeconomic vulnerability.

USP has adopted a policy of reserving spots for public school students and applying ethnic-racial criteria since 2018. USP Diversa was created as a way to engage society in supporting these students through mentoring, belonging initiatives, career planning, and entry into the job market — actions promoted by partner companies.

Through this partnership, we support students throughout their entire undergraduate journey, with the goal of promoting student retention in STEM careers (those related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). The initiative offers a series of development activities guided by our company’s employees and executives, reinforcing our commitment to inclusive, diverse, equitable, and quality education.

Corporate Volunteering Program

Promoting social return to society is part of our strategy. This involves recognizing our social responsibility toward the communities surrounding our operations, with sustainability as a cross-cutting theme.

To this end, the company carries out the Corporate Volunteering Program, together with our employees, so that we can generate positive social and environmental impact in the areas where we operate, supported by the following pillars:

The program promotes support activities for public and/or private nonprofit institutions, aligned with the corporate strategy. Voluntary actions are carried out to encourage integration between employees and society, fostering the practice of citizenship with excellence and innovative potential.

Corporate Volunteering Program

Tax-Incentivized Projects

As part of the Conexão Desenvolvimento Program, we support socio-environmental projects in different regions of the country, using both proprietary resources and funding mechanisms provided by Federal Incentive Laws. This approach expands our territorial reach and strengthens partnerships with civil society organizations, contributing to the generation of shared value, productive inclusion, and the development of local capacities.

Sustainable operations

Social and Environmental Aspects

The installation of a new transmission system can lead to changes in the natural landscape. That’s why we conduct Environmental Impact Studies to evaluate alternatives for preventing, reducing, and mitigating environmental impacts, such as identifying alternative areas for project implementation.

Beyond environmental aspects, we also recognize our potential impact on surrounding communities. Therefore, we build strong and transparent partnerships, working side by side with community leaders to identify and address local needs. To achieve this, we carry out various initiatives such as:

Social Communication Program (PSC)

With the goal of informing the population about the direct and indirect impacts of construction works, as well as ensuring the safety of people, the environment, and the project itself, the PSC promotes transparent communication channels. It establishes relationships with these communities through open dialogue.

Environmental Education Program

With two main areas of focus—raising awareness among internal and third-party collaborators, and providing environmental education to local communities—we address topics related to environmental preservation, whether concerning the potential impacts of our projects or everyday activities.

Futhermore, we also conduct public hearings with civil society during our implementation phases, participatory social and environmental assessments, among other actions.

Learn more about the social and environmental initiatives of our projects.

Projeto Riacho Grande

Volunteer Action at EMEI Joaquim Antônio da Rocha

In an initiative focused on education and child development, our volunteer employees carried out an activity at EMEI Joaquim Antônio da Rocha. The action benefited 145 children, generating a positive impact on the school environment and strengthening the project's connection with the local community. Learn more

Small Actions, Big Consequences

Annually, we carry out a campaign to raise awareness among the population about seemingly harmless actions—such as lighting bonfires, releasing sky lanterns, and flying kites with metallic tails or Chilean string—that can pose serious risks to the electrical grid, biodiversity, and society as a whole.
