Conexión Jaguar

The Conexión Jaguar program, coordinated by ISA, it is our main platform for enhancing biodiversity conservation. Aimed at contributing to the protection of jaguars in Latin America, it aspires to protect forests by providing technical and financial support for the development of conservation and restoration projects with local partners.

Here in Brazil, the Conexion Jaguar program works to protect the jaguar, the largest feline in the Americas, which plays a crucial ecological role in maintaining ecosystem balance. In partnership with the Instituto Homem Pantaneiro, it contributes to the protection of biodiversity in the Pantanal, one of the Brazilian biomes most threatened by deforestation. In the Amazon, we contribute to forest conservation and the protection of endangered species through our partnership with Perfin Climate.

The strategy is to accelerate the mapping of areas relevant to biodiversity conservation. To achieve this, the program supports projects that prevent deforestation in these areas and provide financial compensation for maintaining natural carbon stocks in these regions.

Rio Muru REDD+, Feijó (AC)

Located in the most biodiverse biome in the world, the Rio Muru REDD+ project conserves approximately 40,000 hectares of Amazon rainforest. Developed by Perfin Climate, the project has the potential to avoid the emission of more than 2 million tCO₂e by its completion, helping to mitigate climate change and promoting benefits for local communities. By preventing deforestation in this area, the habitat of several endangered and rare species is protected, ensuring their preservation and combating biodiversity loss.

Serra do Amolar, Corumbá (MS)

An area of 135,000 hectares in Serra do Amolar, Corumbá (MS), has been certified for the issuance of REDD+ carbon credits (voluntary market). The region managed by IHP forms an important biological corridor for the jaguar and hundreds of other species of mammals, birds, and reptiles. The certification granted by Verra, an independent non-profit organization, allows for the issuance and commercialization of 231,000 CO2 credits in the international market, with the potential to prevent approximately 430,000 tCO2e emissions by 2030.

International visibility reinforces our commitment

  • COP 16 - Cali (Colombia)
Active participation through panels and strategic meetings highlighted the importance of the Jaguar Connection Program as a nature-based solution for biodiversity protection and addressing climate change. Our contributions fostered dialogue between sectors with the aim of amplifying the positive impact of sustainable infrastructure in Latin America.
  • COP 28 - Dubai (United Arab Emirates)
We signed a memorandum of understanding with the state government of São Paulo. The goal is to identify strategic areas for developing projects focused on biodiversity conservation and the creation of ecological corridors. The protocol is valid for 12 months.
  • Amazon Summit
The project was highlighted at the international event held in Belém (PA) in 2023, during the panel on binational ecological corridors and the voluntary carbon market.

Jaguar Parade

Jaguar Parade is an urban art intervention that brings together works by local and national artists in open-air exhibitions across cities around the world. The initiative, which highlights our commitment to biodiversity conservation and the protection of jaguars—an endangered species—has been supported by us since 2021. The fourth edition of Jaguar Parade in 2025 will take place in Belém do Pará (PA), during COP30 – the 30th edition of the Conference of the Parties, the world’s largest climate change event. A total of 20 sculptures will be exhibited, 10 of which will be created by Amazonian artists. After the event, the sculptures will be auctioned, and the proceeds will be donated to partner NGOs.
