ISA CTEEP announces progress on the Riacho Grande project in the ABC region and in São Paulo’s capital

  • With an investment of over R$ 1.1 billion and an expected creation of 2,200 jobs, the new project will enhance the reliability of energy supply.

São Paulo, November 21, 2023 – Committed to informing the public about the progress of construction works in order to ensure minimal impact on the population, ISA CTEEP, Brazil’s leading energy transmission company, announces the latest developments and upcoming interventions of the Riacho Grande Project, currently under construction. The project will enhance the reliability of electricity supply for the ABC region and the city of São Paulo. With an investment of over R$ 1.1 billion, the initiative is expected to generate the hiring of more than 2,000 direct and indirect professionals.

Currently responsible for 94% of the energy transmitted in the State of São Paulo, the company is advancing with the construction of underground transmission lines in two segments, with services carried out by EP Engenharia. To ensure safety during the work, traffic in the region will undergo temporary changes, with partial road closures: in Santo André during the daytime, and in central São Paulo from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. All interventions are carried out with authorization from the relevant authorities.

The construction area will be fully marked with mobile fencing and lighting, mesh fencing, cones, reflective tape, signage and guidance boards, physical barriers to ensure safe pedestrian pathways, as well as periodic scheduling bulletins. For questions or suggestions, call 0800 580 3243.

The Traffic Engineering Company (CET) will monitor the closures and guide traffic to ensure flow conditions and preserve the safety of road users. For traffic information, call SP156.

Scope of the Riacho Grande Project

The project includes 44.6 km of 345 kV underground transmission lines, divided into two circuits, 9 km of 345 kV overhead transmission lines, and three substations—two expansions (Miguel Reale and Sul) and one new compact, enclosed substation with 800 MVA of capacity located in São Caetano do Sul, ideal for urban centers. The project was awarded in Lot 7 of Transmission Auction No. 01/20 held by the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL), with a maximum delivery deadline set for March 2026.
